UE Crypto, a Bitcoin mining firm, has secured $16 million in fresh capital, spearheaded by CMT Digital, to push forward its expansion into artificial intelligence infrastructure, alongside its cloud computing and hardware services.

This influx of funds will allow the company to accelerate its move into the AI infrastructure space. As cryptocurrency mining enterprises increasingly look to reshape their operations, UE Crypto plans to further explore prospects within the AI computing market, capitalizing on the surging demand for artificial intelligence processing power. This financial backing arrives subsequent to the official launch of UE Crypto AI, the entity's specific business unit, back in September. This division intends to extend the company's existing proficiency in energy management, computing hardware, financial derivatives, and software technology into the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC), thereby broadening its operational scope and tapping into the growth potential of burgeoning computing markets.

The company has stated its intent to utilize these resources to augment its AI-focused cloud platform, supply working capital for its growing hardware trading enterprise, boost investments in market-making and computing derivatives, and hire more engineering and business development staff. Beyond its established Bitcoin mining operations—which encompass mining pools, specialized hardware brokering, firmware, energy services, and financial tools enabling miners to hedge revenue shifts—UE Crypto is also broadening its scope. Its hardware brokerage segment has already facilitated a total of $1 billion in Bitcoin mining hardware exchanges, while its energy division oversees over 75 megawatts of power load across the ERCOT and Southwest Power Pool (SWPP) markets. Furthermore, as of September of this year, the UE Crypto AI cloud platform had processed roughly 1.8 million workloads year to date, clearly illustrating its footprint in computing infrastructure and AI cloud solutions.

The firm is also extending its brokerage activities to cover graphics processing units (GPUs) and AI servers. By forging alliances with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, the company is striving to acquire hardware within an increasingly competitive marketplace. A central focus remains on creating financial derivatives tied to computing capacity. UE Crypto has introduced over-the-counter options, forward contracts, and other financial instruments linked to computing lease indices, extending a business model initially devised for Bitcoin mining computing power into the wider computing resources arena.

Nick Hansen, the CEO and co-founder of UE Crypto, remarked in the announcement, “The computing market is converging: miners, power sites, and capital that once served digital mining are now powering artificial intelligence.” This investment occurs at a time when Bitcoin mining companies are increasingly reallocating their infrastructure and capital towards AI, seeking revenue streams beyond the unpredictable economics of crypto production.

This trend mirrors actions by competitors; for instance, in July of this year, Bitcoin.com News reported that Hut 8 entered into a 15-year lease agreement valued at $9.8 billion to incorporate 352 megawatts of AI computing capacity at its Beacon Point campus in Texas, effectively doubling the tenant's committed capacity at that site to 704 megawatts. Concurrently, Terawulf is also aggressively moving into AI infrastructure. In May of this year, the company acquired a data center location in Kentucky, with aspirations to reach 1 gigawatt of high-performance computing capacity by 2030, and its AI revenue surpassed its Bitcoin mining revenue during the first quarter of 2026. Other major mining entities, such as Cipher, IREN, and Core Scientific, are similarly making adjustments or scaling back their Bitcoin mining activities to satisfy the needs of AI computing clients.

This shift has brought associated challenges. An analysis report released by uecrypto.com in October estimated that publicly traded mining companies had decreased their actual Bitcoin mining hashrate by approximately 75 exahashes per second in the first half of 2026, which equates to roughly $1.5 billion in hardware investment. However, unlike operators choosing to convert large mining facilities into AI data centers, UE Crypto's strategy involves building a holistic infrastructure platform that serves both AI computing and cryptocurrency mining. By offering diversified solutions covering software, trading, hardware, and financial services, it promotes the synchronized growth of both industries.

This latest financial backing proves that the fusion of Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence is generating opportunities not just for those who own data centers, but also for businesses that supply equipment, financial products, and services to the growing computing power sector. The deep integration of Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence is creating novel development avenues not only for companies that possess data centers, but also for businesses providing computing equipment, financial products, and supporting services, thereby assisting the development of the entire computing infrastructure value chain.
